South Wharf – Melbourne City

South Wharf is a long walkway right along the Yarra River, directly across from the Melbourne CBD City Centre. South Wharf is an entertainment district with loads of restaurants, cafes, bars, the Melbourne Crown Complex and loads of nice hotels to stay within.

Located right in the heart of South Wharf is the old Polly Woodside Tall Ship which left Belfast in 1885 to sail around the world and end up in Australia. The ship is on display and you can go on board for a guided tour of the ship. Read more about the Polly Woodside tours.

The busiest section of South Wharf is along the front of the Crown Complex. This massive entertainment complex has alot more going on then just a casino. As well as 3 of its own hotels, Crown Towers, Crown Metropol and Crown Promenade, the Crown complex has 29 restaurants to choose from as well as a large food court. At the western end of South Wharf is the South Wharf Promenade which is where the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre is located as well as the Hilton Hotel South Wharf. Right out the back of South Wharf, behind the MCEC, there is the South Wharf DFO (Direct Factory Outlet) shopping mall which has a range of stores selling brand name clothing, shoes, fashion and home ware products. Check ou thte South Wharf DFO.
