Soi 2 Sukhumvit Bangkok
Soi 2 is a very quiet street, located close to the start of Sukhumvit Bangkok. It is walking distance to the busiest nightlife in Bangkok with only a few nice hotels and also a small number of restaurants to choose from. As Soi 2 is a no-through road, the street gets very little traffic, making it a nice quiet area to stay but easy walking distance to the nightlife and to transportation to get around Bangkok. You can walk to Ploenchit Station in 8 minutes or to Nana BTS Station in 9 minutes.
Soi 2 is right on the border of Sukhimvit (Nana area) and Ploenchit which is a high end commerical area, very different from the Sukhumvit nightlife area. In Ploenchit you’ll find the high end shopping mall called Cemtral Embassy. This has all the top fashion brand names plus loads of great restaurants, many Thai and Japanese.

There is just 1 luxury massage shop that I saw on Soi 2. There are no massage girls sitting out the front so you wont hear Massage, Welcome! as you walk down the Soi but you will hear plenty of Tuk-tuk! Taxi! Hello Hello!. Out the front of the hotels as there are many Tuk-tuk and taxi drivers, waiting for tourists who will book them for a half day – full day tour anywhere from 500 Baht to 2000 Baht. Some will take you for a short trip but get ready to bargain for the price. I just wanted to go to Soi 11 (1.4km from Soi 2) and the Taxi driver asked for 150. He agreed on 100 Baht that I offered. I probably could have got him down to 50 Baht as it still would be more money than if he had used the taxi meter. The taxi meters are very cheap so many Bangkok taxi drivers prefer not to use a meter but bargain a price at the beginning of the journey.
Right at the start of Soi 2 is the Ploenchit Centre which is a small shopping mall with a Mcdonald’s, Starbucks and Tim Horton’s. From the Doubletree by Hilton, it took me less than 4 minutes to walk here.
There are a few street stalls selling cheap Thai food, mostly to the local Tuk-tuk and taxi drivers who frequent Soi 2. There are no convenience stores (you’ll find many on Sukhumvit Road) but there is a 7-11 Vending machine where you can buy cold drinks and snacks. You find this vending machine at the entrance to the Focus Ploenchit Condo Building, just next to the Doubletree by Hilton Hotel.
There is not short cut to Soi 4 other than walking down Sukhumvit Road. If you look on Google Map you will see a little side alley, across the road from the Doubletree by Hilton, but this road is private, owned by Maison Hotel. I asked in my hotel if I could use that as a short cut and they said no. They had heard the security guards may charge you a fee to use it as a shortcut. TIT. Obviously if you stay at Maison Hotel, then you can easily access Soi 4.
