Scuba Diving in Bali Indonesia
Bali Indonesia has some great scuba diving with a huge variety of marine life to see. The scuba diving in Bali is one of the most popular activities with loads of great dive spots all around the island.
There are thousands of variety of tropical fish, soft and hard corals, sponges and many other type of marine life to see in the waters around Bali. Some of the larger marine animals around Bali include the amazing manta rays, green turtles, sting rays, moral eels, reef sharks and mola mola fish.
There are heaps of accredited PADI dive shops located in all the tourist areas of Bali including Kuta, Sanur, Legian, Seminyak, Padangbai, Tulamben and Candidasa. See links to some of the dive shops in Bali at the bottom of this page.
The waters of Indonesia and around Bali have some of the most diverse marine life in the world.
Dive sites around Bali
There are more than 20 good dive sites around Bali. Some of the best dive sites around Bali include:
Nusa Lembongan – the small island just 35 minutes by fast boat from Bali. I think Nusa lembongan has some of the best dives sites in the Bali area. It is also only a 20 minute boat ride from Nusa Lembongan to Nusa Pendia (see below).
Tulamben – located on the north east coast of Bali, Tulamben has several dive sites including the impressive World War II ship wreck the US Liberty. Just a few hundred meters from the Liberty Shipwreck is another dive site called the Coral Garden.
Nusa Penida – the island just 45 minutes by boat from Sanur has a number of great dive sites include a must dive site called Manta Point. Within this cove is where the amazing Manta Ray’s come in to be cleaned. Also not far from Manta Point is another great dive spot call Crystal Bay with a great variety of fish. Often at Crystal Bay you can see the large Mola Mola fish.
Sanur – Sanur is one of the most popular beach side resort towns in Bali and has a great coral reef a short swim from Sanur Beach. At high tide there is great scuba diving with a good variety of marine life living amongst the reef. At low tide this reef is great for snorkeling with still plenty of marine life to see.
Nusa dua / Tanjung Benoa – Most people think about laying on the beach at the beach resorts of Nusa Dua though there is some good scuba diving off the point at Tanjung Benoa.
Padang Bai – Padang Bai is one of the most popular dive areas of Bali. With crystal clear waters and plenty of marine life to see, Padang Bai is around 1.5 hours drive from Sanur on the east coast of Bali.
Fish and Marine Life around Bali
There are thousands of different types of fish species and other amazing marine life living around the waters of Bali.

Across the waters around the island of Nusa Penida, 45 minutes by boat from Sanur in Bali is where you fill find some of the larger marine life life Manta Rays, Eagle Rays, stingrays, Mola Mola fish, dolphins, various species of sharks. The waters around Nusa Penida are a marine protected area so fishing is not allowed to protect the marine life.
