Preferred Foreign Money Exchange on Soi 24 Phrom Phong Bangkok
You need to do a bit of shopping around to get the best exchange rate in Bangkok. I was staying on Soi 24 Phrom Phong area of Bangkok, I went to the money exchange out the front of the Sky View Hotel and they were offering the exchange rate of 21.70 Baht to the Australian dollar. The official rate for the day was 22.48. I walked 20 meters down the road to the next money exchange (KF Exchange) and they were offering 22.1. I exchanged A$200 – the difference between the 2 would have been 80 Baht, which is more than A$3.60 dollars. Over the course of my holiday, exhanging A$1000 would be a 400 baht different or A$18.
A few days before I had exchanged A$100 at 2 different Money Changers in the Nana Sukhumvit area (peak tourist area) and got rates of 21.60 and 21.55 (the official exchange rate was 22.40).
The money exchange is called KF Exchange and is located right next to Chita Yukata Tei Ramen Restaurant, about 70 meters down from the corner of Soi 24 and Sukhumvit Road. The have a 4.6 / 5 Rating on Google Maps with lots of positive comments.
You will need to have your passport when you exchange money here. You will get better exchange rates in this Soi 24 Phrom Phong area than in the very busy tourist area of Lower Sukhumvit Nana area. From the Phrom Phong BTS Station, take Exit 2 then turn right into Soi 24.
