Pa La-U Waterfall Hua Hin
I’ve seen many impressive waterfalls on this planet, Pa La-U is not one of them. A very pleasant trip from Hua Hin, of around 1 hour and 20 minutes drive, Pa La-U waterfall is located close to the Myanmar border, in the Kaeng Krachan National Park. Best seen in the wet season when the water levels are high.
The waterfall here has many 5 different levels, to see all levels you’ll need to walk along the trail up the hill for about 2 kilometers. There are good sections of wooden walk way, and good steps to go up and down. There are small bridges crossing the river. There are many sections with some steep steps to climb to get up a level.
There is an entrance fee to see the waterfall of 300 Baht for Foreigner Adults, 150 Baht Child. 60 Baht for Thai.
There are some unique wildlife living in this national park but you will be lucky to see any! Within the park there are wild elephants, Great Hornbill birds, leopards, bears, stump-tailed macaques, barking deer, golden jackals dusky leaf monkeys, White-handed gibbons and Banded Langurs. There are also so many butteflies all around the watefalls. Loads of different colours including blue and yellow.
About 10 kilometers from the waterfalls, on the road in, you will see many traces of wild elephants, mainly their poo along the side of the road. I didn’t see any elephants on this trip but it seemed the elephants were using the road as their toilet as there was poop for kilometers along the road.
Along the way to Pa La-U Watefall, I stopped at Lub Lae Cave, Wat Huay Mongkol and the Big Buddha to make this a comfortable half day trip.
