Excellent Japanese Food at Izumi on Royal Caribbean Cruise ships
Izumi Japanese is a speciality restaurant on some of the Royal Caribbean cruise ships. I ate at the Izumi onboard the Quantum of the Seas Royal Caribbean cruise ship and found the restaurant to be excellent. Such a great Japanese dining experience! Here is a list of the food I ate at Izumi Japanese,
Being a speciality restaurant on Royal Caribbean means that the food at this restaurant is not included in the cruise fare and you need to pay extra. You can order off the al a carte menu or there is a set charge of US$34.99 to have dinner here which includes one small plate, two large plates and a dessert. You can pre-purchase a dining package at Izumi before you cruise but generally it does not save you any money. Infact I ended up paying a few dollars more as they charged me in Australian dollars of $54. At the time if i had just paid the US$34.99, it would have cost me about A$50…well probably RC would have hiked up the exchange rate, so maybe it would have cost the same!
So onto the food at Izumi! For my small dish I chosse the Miso soup, which was pretty good Miso soup. Nothing to write home about but it tasted good. They also had given me a bowl of Edamame when I first chowed down.
For my 2 large plates, I choose a plate of sushi (8 pieces) and some teriyaki chicken which came in a large bowl with rice and vegetables. Both very good! The sushi was so fresh and tasty. Teriyaki chicken is one of my favourites and this was very tasty too.
With my main meals, I had a cheeky little cocktail. They had 2 Sake cocktails available. I had the Spicy Okinawan which was made with a dash of Sriracha sauce and citrus mix with agave, grapefruit juice and premium sake. Talk about knock your socks off! Wow this was a great cocktail. Very tasty and after you swallow you get the spicy kick from the Sriracha. Great cocktail!
For me dessert I went for the very yummy chocolate lava cake. YUM YUM YUM. This was delicious.
Overall, an excellent meal! Great Japanese food served on Quantum of the Seas. I highly recommend spending the extra money for this excellent fine dining Japanese.
