I spent 7 nights at the Doubletree by Hilton Ploenchit Hotel and I very much enjoyed my stay. See directions to get to the Top 10 Bangkok Attractions by Public Transport from Doubletree by Hilton Ploenchit
The location of Doubletree by Hilton Ploenchit
Located on Soi 2 Sukhumvit, the hotel is an 8 minute walk to Ploenchit BTS Skytrain or 9 minutes walk to Nana BTS Station. Soi 2 is a very quiet street, with just a few hotels, a small number of restaurants which makes the hotel rooms quiet and peaceful. The nightlife is only a short walk away starting from Soi 4. See a full guide at the bottom of this page to see how to get to the Top 10 Attractions in Bangkok via Public Transport.
There is a road directly opposite the Doubletree by Hilton which connects Soi 2 to So 4 but it is a private owned road, part of the Maison Hotel, so unless you are staying at the Maison, you can’t use this road to cut across to Soi 4. To go around to Sukhumvit Road, it will take about 7 minutes to walk.
There are always taxis and tuk-tuk waiting outside the hotel to take you for short rides or to take you on a tour of Bangkok. They have signs up out the front showing the various tours available. Prices for a tour will be up to around 2000 Baht for a full day tour. They will ask for alot more, you just have to bargain them down.
The Room Quality
A very comfortable room. Highlights of the room:
- Comfortable bed
- The window curtains closed properly so no light comeing thru in the morning
- Big rain fall shower head
- Built in security safe to hold passport and cash
- Fully stocked mini-bar
- 2 bottles of drinking water every day
- 8 clothes hangers in a smallish closet
- Iron and Ironing board and a torch incase the power goes out
- Plenty of English channels, news and movies on the TV
- The Wifi worked very well – I uploaded a 2Gb video to Youtube in under 1 minute
Hotel Facilities
The swimming pool at Doubltree by Hilton Bangkok Ploenchit is located on level 7, next to the hotel gymnasium. The swimming pool is a decent size. I was staying here during November and the only time the pool got direct sun light was at around 9am – 10am for about 1 hour, and the sunlight was just on the very corner of the pool. It still is a nice shaded area to sit by the pool and read a book. See pic below for direct sunlight on the pool.
I did manage to see the gymnasium on the first day I arrived but then they closed the gym for maintenance. The gynamsium will be closed from 20th November 2024 to 15th December 2024.
In-house restaurant at the Doubletree by Hilton Ploenchit
The inhosue restaurant is called Open, and does all you can eat buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner. The buffet breakfast is excellent, one of the better buffet breakfasts I have seen at a 4 star hotel (much better than the breakfast at Hilton Garden Inn Silom). Well done Doubletree! I’ve also stayed at the Doubletree by Hilton on Soi 26 Sukhumvit, and they also do a very good breakfast.
It is a really nice space to have breakfast in the mornings, located at the front of the hotel, with large windows letting lots of natural light in. It gets quite busy but they have all the food spread out on 8 different stations, including an egg station. Read more about the Buffet Breakfast at Doubletree by Hilton Bangkok Ploenchit.
I did not have the all you can eat lunch or dinner but I did order from the al a carte menu few times and very much enjoyed the food. I very much enjoyed the Potato and Leek Soup (Delicious!), Ceasar Salad with Chicken, some delicious Vietnamese Fresh Spring rolls with shrimp and the excellent Australia Rib Eye Steak.

I also had a few drinks at the hotel bar a few times. The bar is next to the restaurant and beside the elevators and reception area. The bar is only small but as on check-in, the staff gave me a heaps of free drink vouchers as I was a Gold Member. Loyalty Pays. I ate the Ceasar salad at the bar, rather than sitting within the restaurant.
Getting to Doubletree by Hilton Ploenchit from BKK Survanibhumi Airport
It will probably cost you around 400 – 500 to get a taxi from the airport direct to the hotel.
I caught the Airport Link Train to Phaya Thai station, then a BTS Skytrain to Nana BTS station and it was a 10 minute walk to the hotel. Cost me 80 Baht and took around 55 minutes door to door. A taxi could take around 1 hour or more (maybe 45 minutes at a very quiet time on the expressway.
