Cairns Lagoon Free Activity in Carins City

Cairns Lagoon is an awesome free swimming area right down on the Cairns Promenade next to the beautiful Pacific Ocean Waterfront in the heart of Cairns City in Far North Queensland.

This massive salt water swimming lagoon is one of the top attractions in Cairns with the added bonus that it is free of charge to swim here. The pool is 4800 square meters with toilets and change facilities in the park next to the lagoon.

Their are life guards on duty at the Cairns Lagoon everyday. The opening hours of the lagoon are  Thursday to Tuesday 6.00am to 9.00pm. On Wednesday 12.00pm to 9.00pm. On Wednesday the lagoon is closed for weekly maintenance until midday. Public holidays 6.00am to 9.00pm. While it is very tempting to go for a late night swim in the lagoon, there are security guards at the lagoon at night time stopping people going for a swim.

Right next to the lagoon are free BBQ facilities where you can cook up some snags or fresh seafood, making Cairns Lagoon a great family activity within Cairns.
