Awesome Japanese Bento Box in Darwin at Oishi-ya Japanese Restaurant

I love a good Japanese bento box! I just love having a selection of different types of Japanese food in these beautiful lacquered boxes that are very popular as a lunch time meal in Japan. When I was in Darwin recently I went into Oishi-ya Japanese Restaurant, located on Mitchell Street, right in the heart of Darwin and was really impressed with their Bento Box.

Oishi-ya have 2 different Bento boxes on their menu (see below menu). They have the Happy Bento Box for $21.90 which is the smaller of the bento box, with a choice of main meal, and it comes with agedashi tofu, rice, spring rolls, pickles, garden salad and Miso soup.

I went for the Deluxe Bento Box which is $28.90 and is a very decent sized meal. I went for the teriyaki beef. I don’t think I have every eaten teriyaki beef before, I usually go for Teriyaki chicken but I was so impressed with the flavour of the Teriyaki sauce with the beef. The beef was so tender too. Everything else in the box was delicious. The spring rolls were crispy with a tasty vegetable filling. The agedashi tofu was very tasty with nice silken tofu inside. The takoyaki octopus balls (my favourite Japanese snack) were excellent. There was a big pile of Edamame green beans which I got rhrough as I devoured everything else. The rice was fluffy and the garden salad was fresh with a nice salad dressing on top.

This is an excellent Bento Box! I don’t think this could be beaten, one of the best Bento Boxes I have ever eaten so I am rating this the Best Bento Box in Darwin! This also came with a miso soup which was also very tasty.
