Aussie Meat Pie in Bangkok
If you are looking for a classic home-made Aussie meat pie in Bangkok, then head to The Lost Aussie Sports Bar on Soi 6, a short walk from Nana BTS Skytrain Station. I eat pies in Sydney almost every week, so I know a good pie and I can honestly say the Aussie meat pie at The Lost Aussie is very good quality and delicious.
I had heard they do a good Aussie Pie at The Lost Aussie Pub. I went in to try them. Being a sports bar, I went in when there was a Formula 1 race on. The race was 1pm on a Sunday afternoon so I was expecting the bar to be busy but I was the only one there. So I had front row seat infront of the biggest TV screen, watching the F1 race, eating an excellent Aussie meat pie.
The meat pie has very good quality beef mince and a very tasty gravy. The pastries is flakey, they heat the pie up in a proper oven so it is crispy. The pastry is quite thick so the pie has some very good structural integrity so you can pick up and pie and eat it with your hands (the way a good Aussie pie should be eaten!).
They have a few different flavours of pies, from the classic Aussie meat pie, a Chicken and Mushroom Pie, Chicken Curry Pie and a Steak and Ale Pie. All of these are 179 Baht which is about A$7.95 so a bit expensive. You can make a meal of it by adding Peas, chips and gravy for an extra 120 Baht.
I give a big thumbs up to the Aussie meat pie at The Lost Aussie Sports Bar.
