During the day it doesn’t take long to get up the elevator to each of the towers. Before sunset, the north tower has a queue starting to form around 5pm. The queue can take 30 minutes to get to the elevator. If you want to be at the top for sunset it is best to get there early to get up in time for the spectacular views over the mountains and to Mount Fuji with the sun setting behind it.
Being located in Nishi-Shinjuku, referred to as Skyscraper Town, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building is surrounded by tall skyscrapers which you get awesome views of.
In the South Tower there is a cafe and a souvenir shop. In the North Tower they also have a souvenir shop as well as a very romantic, fine dining restaurant, probably the restaurant in Tokyo with the best views.
In the Ground floor of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building there is the Tokyo Tourist Information Centre which can provide you with plenty of information about Tokyo and tours around the area.
