Inarikiō Shrine Shinjuku Tokyo
Inarikiō Shrine is a small Shinto Shrine located in Shinjuku Tokyo, just on the other side of Kabukicho, on the Eastern side of Shinjuku Train Station.
The grounds of Inarikiō Shrine are surrounded by apartment buildings. The main shrine at Inarikio Jinga Shrine is located at the back of the grounds.
At the side of the Inarikiō Shrine is a smaller shrine which enshrines an Ebisu Deity. You will often see business men coming to this smaller shrine as the Ebisu diety is one of the Seven Gods of Good Fortune. When I visited I saw a business man arrive with a driver and security guard who hopped out of the van to open the door and then waited out the front for the business man to return to the van.
There a few nice statues and water features built around the grounds of Inarikiō Shrine. What may look like a nice water feature is actually a water fountain for visitors to purify themselves before paying their respects at the shrines. The small hand buckets are used to wash their hands and cleanse their mouth.
Inarikiō Shrine is located just a few minutes walk from Higashi-shinjuku Station on the Oedo line.
