Water Palace Gardens – Tirta Gangga Bali

Tirta Gangga are the old royal palace gardens built in 1948 by the last Raja (King) of Karangasem. Known in English as the Water Palace Gardens, they are located on the north east coast of Bali around 90 Kilometers north of Kuta.

The Tirta Gangga Water Palace Gardens cover an area of 1.2 hectares. The gardens are located around half way between Candidasa and Amed. Both of these towns are famous for snorkeling and scuba diving so if you are heading to either of these towns for a day trip or a few days it is well worth a visit to the Tirta Gangga Water Palace Gardens.

The architecture of the gardens is a mix of Balinese culture and Chinese culture with many statues of Chinese dragons.

Entrance into the Water Palace Gardens cost 20,000 Rupiah (around A$20).

From Kuta it will take around 2.5 hours to drive to the Water Palace.

From Sanur Beach it will take around 2 hours to drive to the Water Palace.

If you wanted to do a day trip from Kuta or Sanur to visit the Water Gardens you could also include a visit to the Mother Temple of the side of Gunung Agung Volcano and a visit to the Bali Safari and Marine Park.
