Soi 11, the street off Sukhumvit Road, next to Nana BTS Station is right in the heart of Lower Sukhumvit area, famous for its nightlife areas. There is Soi 4 with its Nana Enterainment Complex, Soi Cowboy down past Soi 21 and right in the middle is Soi 11, which is a long street lined with late night restaurants, street food, bars, live music venues, and thumping nightclubs that rage until the early hours and there seems to be a 24 hour 7-Eleven store every 100 meters down the road. There are also loads of different style hotels, from luxury to cheap dorm style backpacker accommodation.

For more than 30 years Soi 11 has been known as a nightlife area. Back in the day there was the very popular Cheap Charlie Bar which sold cheap beer. Cheap Chalie’s has gone, replaced with more upscale bars and nightclubs.

Tourist Attractions Close to Soi 11

Lower Sukhumvit is very much a business district so most of the most popular tourist attractions of Bangkok are outisde of Sukhumvit. Some of the closest attractions all with easy options to get there by Public Transport:

Transport to/from Soi 11

Soi 11 is a busy street day or night. Getting a taxi or a tuk-tuk is easy but it may take 5 or 10 minutes just to get out of Soi 11 especially at night. Best to walk down to Sukhumvit road and get a taxi there or go to the Nana BTS Station.

Canal Ferry from Soi 11

Right at the end of Soi 11, you come to a canal. Turn to the right, and down next to Soi 15 is the Asoke Ferry Pier. From here you can get ferries to Pratunam Clothes Market. Rides on these ferries are super cheap, costing around 10 Baht for a stop or 2 down the canal.

Train to/from Survanubhumi Airport

The cheapest way to get to Survanibhumi Airport is by the Airport Link Train Line. From Soi 11, you can walk down to Terminal 21 where you find the Sukhumvit MRT Station entrance out the front. Take that 1 stop to Makasan station, then you transfer to the Airport Link Train at Makasaar station. There is a walk of around 800 meters to get from xxx station to Makasan, Take that into consideration when lugging your luggage.

Cost of this trip is 49 Thb per person (14 Baht for the MRT, 35 Baht for the Airport link ticket)

Train to other parts of Thailand

Train services to outside of Bangkok are being transitioned to the new Bang Sue Grand Station. Opened in 2024, Bang Sue Grand Station now has services running north to Chang Mai and south to Surathani (stopping along the way in Hua Hin.

To get there by public transport, you can get on at the MRT at Sukhumvit Station (next to Terminal 21) and go 11 stops to Bang Sue MRT station. It is then around a 5 minute walk up from the MRT to the Grand Station.

A taxi will take around 20 minutes to get to from Soi 11 Sukhumvit. I tried to get a taxi there at 6.30am and all the taxi drivers were asking for 500 Baht. I got 1 to go for 400 Baht. I am sure it would only be 100 Baht on their meter but at 6.30am Taxi drivers are on surge pricing and refuse to use their meters.
