Best Steak in Chiang Mai at Ribs and Rumps Steakhouse

If you looking for a big juicy steak in Chiang Mai, then I can highly recommend the steaks at Ribs and Rumps, located within the Old City of Chiang Mai Thailand. This is not a fancy restaurant, but they serve up some delicious food and very tasty steak. The most expensive steak on the menu is a Ribeye steak for 489 THB, which is expensive compared to going to a local Thai restaurant for Thai food. but compare that to steak restaurants outside of Thailand and the price is pretty good.

I had been in Thailand for about 2 weeks and was ready for a nice big slab of meat. I had skipped lunch so I can have a big meal at this lovely steakhouse in Chiang Mai. The restaurant is quite basic inside but a nice large space and the tables are quite some distance away from each other. There is a large TV screen at the front of the restaurant which they show Foodie Youtube videos constantly.

I started the meal with a nice cold Singha Beer and a serving of the garlic bread which was excellent! Such good bread and nice and buttery with a light serving of crushed garlic.

The steak menu only had 3 options on it. A sirloin steak 230 – 250g for 379 baht (around A$16), Local tenderloin steak 230 – 250g for 379 baht or a Ribeye Steak 230 – 250g for 489 baht (around A$21). All the steaks come with a serving of vegetables, salad and a side plate of chips. I went for the Ribeye steak which was excellent. There was a good amount of fat through the steak – fat equals flavour when it comes to a good steak!

The side of vegetables was really good with a nice cob of corn which was delicious. The perfect accomplice to this meal.

I was a bit full after the big serving of steak, vegetables and chips but I ‘forced’ myself to have a dessert. This was a delicious Chocolate Pudding with ice-cream and a big serving of berries. Yum Yum Yum!

The staff here are lovely. While I was eating my meal, the heavens opened up and there was torrential rain. The rain continued after I had finished my meal. I had planned to just walk around the Old City after the meal and then grab a taxi off the street. With the rain that plan was cancelled. The lovely waitress said she could call for a Tuk-Tuk to come pick me up. She made the call and within 5 minutes the Tuk-Tuk arrived and took me back to my hotel. Very lovely gesture by the waitress.

So if you want a great steak, then get into Ribs and Rumps for an excellent meal!
