Sakura Japanese Restaurant Odaiba Tokyo
Sakura Japanese Restaurant is a huge restaurant located within the Hilton Hotel in Odaiba Tokyo. Sakura is split out into various rooms with a sushi bar restaurant, a separate room for tempura counter and a large Teppanyaki room with large hotplates where the chefs cook up a combination of meat and seafood on the grill right in front of the diners.
I went in for dinner and tried the Sakura Sushi counter and experienced a huge selection of freshly prepared traditional edo style sushi, each piece prepared in front of me by the expert sushi chefs. The sushi counter only sits around 12 people so only a small intimate restaurant.
The sushi dinner menu has 2 sushi set meals to choose from. I chose the Tachibana set course meal which was 10,000 Yen ++ (around US$80 or A$115 plus tax and service charge). The Tachibana set course comes with a small appetizer, some sashimi, 9 kinds of negiri sushi, Miso soup and a dessert.
They also have the Kiwami set course dinner meal which comes with appertizer, sashimi, stewed dish, 12 kinds of negiri sushi, sushi roll, Miso soup and a dessert for 15,000 Yen.
The chef spoke fairly good English and explained each piece of sushi, what type of fish it was and the sauce or ingredients that were combined on this sushi.
