Indonesian Fried Chicken at Ayam Penyet Ria Indonesian Restaurant Parramatta
In my opinion, Indonesian fried chicken is up there with the best in the world. I have traveled all over Indonesia and the fried chicken is one of my favourite Indonesian foods. I was very happy to find not only an Indonesian Restaurant in Parramatta but an Indonesian Restaurant that specialises in Ayam penyet (Indonesian smashed fried chicken). Ayam Penyet Ria is a chain of Indonesian restaurants which started in 1998 and now have restaurants in Parramatta and Randwick in Sydney as well as Melbourne restaurants in Dandenong, Noble Park, Preston and South Melbourne. Ayam Penyet Ria Restaurants are all 100% halal food and they do not serve alcohol.
I went in for dinner at their Parramatta restaurant and had their Ayam Penyet Pack which is a combo meal which comes with their signature Ayam Penyet dish, Steamed rice, a side dish of soup and a choice of drink for $23.40. The Ayam Penyet comes with the delicious fried chicken, some salad, fried tofu and a chiuce of sauce. I had the very spicy Sambal Terasi (Balacan Chilli). Any chilli lover with absolutely love this spicy sambal. They do not hold back on the spiceness.
For my side soup i had the classic Soto Ayam (Chicken Soup). This is only a very small bowl of the very tasty Indonesia Chicken Soup.
For my drink I had the Es Milo Dino which is a homemade iced milk chocolate made with Milo which you will find all over Indonesia.
The restaurant has a cute little delivery robot that delivers your meal to your table. There is contactless ordering with a QR code at your table to order via your mobile phone. Order and pay via your phone, then your food is delivered contactless via the robot.
The drinks menu has your classic Indonesian drinks including the Es Milo Dino ($6.50), Es Bandung ($6.50) (house-made iced rose milk), Soda Gembira ($6.90) (house-made milk soda), Lemonade ($6.50) and Es Cendol ($7) which has house-made cendol jelly, coconut milk, palm sugar and you can add durian for an extra $1.50,
They also have a selection of non-alcohol beer for $7.50 per bottle. A choice of Heineken, Carlton Zero or Holsten beer.
A very satisfying meal with my favourite Indonesia fried chicken. I will be back for sure. You can check out their full menu on their website, link below.
There is indoor dining in their very clean restaurant as well as tables and chairs outside the front of the restaurant right next to Church Street.
